Special Educational Needs & Disability
Mr Walters is the schools Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo) and leads the support within school to ensure that all of our young people with identified additional needs are supported in all that they aspire to achieve.
SEND or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) practise within all schools is underpinned by the Code of Practice (COP) 2015.
The Code of Practice defines SEND within the following two statements:
“A child or young person has SEN if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made”
Code of Practice 2015 p15
“Special educational provision is educational or training provision that is additional to or different from that made generally for other children or young people of the same age”
Code of Practice 2015 p16
