Severe Weather Arrangements
It is always a difficult decision to decide whether or not to open or close the school due to severe weather. We will always try to open the school when it is safe to do so and when taking such decisions, we will consider a number of factors:
- The ability of school transport to operate, both at the beginning and end of the school day;
- The condition and safety of the school site - external areas as well as services such as heating and electricity;
- The numbers of school staff who are able to travel safely to and from work;
- The forecast for the day ahead.
If we do need to close the school, we will send out an email as soon as possible and update our website. This is the most efficient way of getting information to you as soon as possible. Closures will also be broadcast via local radio stations: BBC Radio Suffolk 103.9 FM and Heart Radio 97.1 and 96.4 FM as well being posted on Suffolk County Council’s website. Suffolk School Closures.
Whenever possible, we will provide work for students via Google Classroom or Satchel:One in all year groups. We may not always be able to replicate the timetable for that day, but students will be set relevant tasks and activities to enable learning to continue.
