Miss Brownsell - Progress Leader

A very warm welcome, Year 6!

My name is Miss Brownsell, and I will be your Progress Leader when you join Stowupland High School. I have worked at the school for nearly five years and have supported our current Year 11 cohort since they were in Year 8. I strongly believe in mutual respect and always aim to treat students in the way I expect to be treated. I am also a driven and enthusiastic Progress Leader, committed to encouraging my year group to be the very best versions of themselves – working hard in lessons and making the most of every opportunity available at school.

I am really looking forward to meeting you during your transition days and welcoming you properly when you start full-time in September. I hope you are as excited as we are. High school brings a range of new experiences: you will meet new teachers, make new friends and study a variety of subjects in specialist classrooms such as Design Technology, Computing, Art, Drama, Music, Science, PE, Food Technology and Dance, to name just a few.

One of the biggest changes will be moving between classrooms for each lesson, but this will quickly become easier as you settle in. To support you, we have a team of student leaders who will be there to guide you throughout your transition.

The school day includes five 60-minute lessons, as well as 30 minutes each morning with your Form Tutor. This time is important for checking you have the right equipment, sharing key information, and giving you the opportunity to ask any questions.

There are also many opportunities to be recognised and rewarded at Stowupland. Teachers award merits for positive contributions and high-quality work, while Golden Tickets are given to one student in each class who demonstrates exceptional effort and enthusiasm throughout the lesson.

I am very much looking forward to getting to know you all and supporting you on your journey through high school.

Assistant Progress Leaders

We are in post to provide wellbeing support for you throughout your time at Stowupland High School. We are here to listen, to support and, most of all, make sure you keep smiling. We are available before school, at break times and lunchtimes and the best way to speak with us is to arrange a time.

We are often a key point of contact for parents/carers if they have any concerns.

If you have any further questions about your transition from primary school to secondary school, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
