As a mark of respect, the school observed a minute’s silence on Friday 10th November. Mrs Burns has created a beautiful stained glass window of poppies in the library and, in the corridor immediately outside, there are photographs of the war memorials from all our local parishes. These displays will remain in place for the next two weeks and we would encourage all students to go along and absorb an important part of both national and local history.
Earlier in the week, the Year 9 boys’ football team travelled to Farlingaye High School in the second round of the County Cup. This was a game that the boys were keen to win, having narrowly lost their match at this stage of the competition last year. Mr Broom has described the team’s performance as “outstanding” and congratulations go to the goal scorers: Bobby Bell (2), Joe Sims (1) and Jack Wharton-Richardson (1). Man of the Match was Edward Whittaker.
We are now part way through Year 11 mocks and these examinations will continue in the week ahead. Our current Year 11 students should also have received a personal invitation to the Post-16 Options Evening which will be held on Wednesday 29th November. We hope that as many students as possible will be able to attend.
And finally, there will be a non-uniform day on Friday 17th November in aid of Children in Need. Please see the notice at the end of this bulletin!
