Travelling to School
The school day starts promptly at 8.55am for Registration and lessons start at 9.00am.
Walking and Cycling
If you live locally you are encouraged to walk or cycle to school. There are a number of footpaths leading into the school site and plenty of storage facilities for you to keep your bicycle locked and secure during the day. Please see the map for details of all footpaths.
May we remind all parents who drop off and collect their children by car, that the school site is restricted for safety reasons whilst the school buses are on site during the morning and evening periods. This means that parents have access between 8.30am and 9am, and again from 3.15pm to 4pm. If you need to collect your child during the day, then access after 9am and before 3.15pm is no problem.
Please note this restriction does not apply to parents/carers who would normally have access to disabled parking spaces.
If you do need to drive your child to school, then please select your drop off and collection points carefully; there are several private driveways leading from Church Road, including The Crown car park itself, which should not be used or obstructed in any way. We have also been asked by the Parish Council to remind parents that care should be taken when using the green so that verges are not damaged and cars are still able to flow along the road.
For visitors to the school at any time, may we remind you that the disabled parking bays are to be use only by registered disabled badge holders. Cars parking or stopping on our site must do so in appropriate places, and should not obstruct other vehicles or site users.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter; working together as a community will be of benefit to everyone.
Letter from Governors (24th March 2016) regarding traffic on the school site:
Traffic on School Site 24.3.2016
All students living over 3 miles from school and within the catchment or transport priority area are entitled to free transport. You will be contacted by Suffolk County Council Passenger Transport in the summer term prior to September with information on how to apply for a bus pass.
The most recent list of addresses covered by free school transport is provided by SCC Passenger Transport (see links on the right). If you think that this is not correct, please contact Passenger Transport directly.
Suffolk County Council has introduced a new school travel policy, effective from September 2019. This new policy is being phased in as children start or move school.
All children using SCC funded school travel will have to opt-in to the service each year by no later than 31 May to ensure that the transport provision is in place by the start of the new academic year in September.
If you apply after 31 May, there is no guarantee that your child’s transport provision will be in place for the start of the new school year.
Please see www.suffolkonboard.com/optin for further information.
Year 11 students are not permitted to ride or park motor cycles or scooters on the school site, at any time during the school year.
