School Meals

Stowupland High SchoolAt Stowupland catering is provided by Vive from Vertas. A sample menu of what is available at lunchtime is shown on the next page. As well as this, a range of snacks can be purchased at breaktime.
Meals can be eaten in the Dining Room or in designated places such as the Concourse. Food can be eaten outside as well but we ask all students to make sure that litter goes in the bin!

Could you Qualify for Free School Meals?

If your child is eligible it means they can enjoy delicious healthy meals without the bills and the fuss of making packed lunches. Many children at our school are already eating free school meals, and your child may be able to have them too.
School meals will give your child a real appetite for learning and help them to achieve their full potential.
There is nothing healthier for your child and your family’s budget than free school meals. As professional cooks prepare the meals for your child, it saves you having to worry about the effort and expense of making packed lunches every day.
Your child maybe entitled to receive free school meals if you are entitled to receive one of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income based Job Seeker’s Allowance
  • Income related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit but not the Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenues & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190
  • If you are supported under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Working Tax Credit during the four-week period immediately after your employment finishes or after you start to work less hours per week
  • Universal Credit

Savings for your Family

If you were planning to pay for your child to have school meals or are already doing so, you could save around £350 per year if your child qualifies for free school meals. Think of the time you’d save.

Our School will Receive Extra Funding

For every child registered for a free school meal, the school will receive money to spend on extra resources. It is called the Pupil Premium and is worth £900 per child.
If you are registered for Free School Meals you could also apply for assistance with the cost of school trips or music tuition.
If you are already in receipt of Free School Meals you need not apply again when you join Stowupland as the school will be informed of those who are currently eligible.
