Well done to all our students on their amazing successes over the summer. At GCSE, we have exceeded the national average for Grade 4+ combined English and Maths, narrowed the gap in performance between different groups of students and 71% of Year 13s are now preparing for University (national average is usually in the mid-50s)!
We are very proud of all our students, but there were some spectacular individual performances at both GCSE and A Level this year. Year 11 students Manon Everard, Phoebe Neil, Aaron Normon, Holly Wiliams,Tommy Darnell, Isabelle Leggett, Oliver Knights and Sherena Edwards deserve particular congratulations for their acheivements. In the sixth form, some of our top performers were:
|Will Fitzpatrick||A*AAB||Computer Science, Durham University|
|Amelia Howell||AAA||Chemical Engineering, University of Bath|
|Jev Gore-Samad||A*AA||Mathematics, University of Sheffield|
|Sophie Cooke||AAB||History, University or Exeter|
|Jacob Jack||ABDist*||Exercise and Sports Science, University or Exeter|
|Lucas Stones||ABB||Film, Falmouth University|
|Naomi Cheong||BBB||Medical & Biological Chemistry, University of Nottingham|
|Olly Kam||AAB||Pharmacology, University of Bristol|
Distinction grading equivalent to A*
The summer period has also seen extensive building work at Stowupland. We are just putting the finishing touches to brand new ICT rooms, new flooring throughout the ground floor, new ceilings and decoration in ‘A’ block and a new-look sixth form area!
This week we have welcomed a considerable number of new students to the school and I would like to praise Year 7 in particular for their very smart appearance and for the work ethic they have already established across a broad range of lessons. Preperations are already underway for the 2018 intake and our Open Evening will be held on Wednesday 27th September, 2017. All details, including the 2018 prospectus will be uploaded to the school website shortly.
